What about the Kochi Metro?
The Kochi Metro runs from Aluva to Thrippunithura, but it does not reach Kakkanad yet. The extension from JLN Stadium to Infopark, 11.2 km, is under construction; in October 2026 the metro company was working to an August 2027 completion date, so plan your visit by road or boat. If you travel on the metro, get down at the nearest station (Palarivattom or JLN Stadium) and take a bus or a cab.
By bus
Buses to Kakkanad, Infopark and Collectorate leave regularly from Ernakulam and Vyttila. Ask for Kakkanad or Infopark and get down at Edachira; the conductor or the map app will tell you the stop. If you are going back late, a cab is easier than waiting for the last bus.
What happens when you come, and what to bring
At the first meeting a counsellor checks your NEET score against the eligibility rules, asks about your budget for six years, and goes through which Russian universities teach the whole course in English and what they charge according to their own price lists. Bring:
- Your NEET score card, or the expected score if results are not out yet.
- Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets.
- Your passport, if you already have one.
- Your budget for six years, including living costs and flights.
If you cannot come, the same session can be done on a phone or video call in Malayalam. Many families in Kochi do the first call from home, then visit once the shortlist is ready.

How to check any consultancy in Kochi before you pay
Kochi has many overseas education offices, so a family can compare. These checks apply to all of them, and to us:
- Ask for the registration number (LLPIN or CIN) and search it on the Ministry of Corporate Affairs portal.
- Visit the address shown and check that the office is there.
- Ask for the university's own fee document and compare it with the consultant's figure.
- Pay tuition only to the university's account and keep the university's receipt.
- Do not accept the claim "NMC approved" as an answer. The NMC does not endorse any list of foreign medical universities, and a degree is usable in India only if the course meets the NMC's FMGL 2021 criteria.
- Ask what the consultant's own fee is, when it is due and what happens if admission or the visa is refused.

Certificates: the Ernakulam NORKA Roots centre
A Russian university needs your Class 10 and Class 12 certificates apostilled. For certificates issued in Kerala, the first step is authentication at a NORKA Roots centre. The Ernakulam regional office is on the 6th floor of a commercial building at the MG Road metro station, Ernakulam 682035 (phone 0484 2371810 and 9188268904, email [email protected]; the NORKA contact page was last updated in June 2021, so confirm by phone). NORKA asks you to register on its portal before you visit, usually works Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2:30 pm, and accepts payment by card or UPI, not cash. Medical colleges around Kochi, and what they asked for in 2026
Many Kochi families first look at seats at home. In the 2026 state counselling the colleges in and near Ernakulam district were:

Amrita School of Medicine in Kochi is outside this list because it admits through the central MCC counselling as a deemed university; its own MBBS page lists 149 seats and tuition of ₹25 lakh a year in its 2026-27 table. A state rank of about 800 or better reached Ernakulam's government college in round 2; Malankara closed at about 2,800 and Chalakka at about 7,400. From Kochi to Russia: the usual route
Cochin International Airport (COK) has no direct flight to Russia. Students fly through a Gulf hub (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah or Doha) or through Delhi, where Aeroflot flies nonstop to Moscow. A one-stop trip takes about 13 to 17 hours. One airline lists about nine flights a week between Kochi and Moscow via Dubai, at about 15 hours; schedules change by season, so check the airline before you book.
