MBBS Abroad Consultants in Kerala: How to Choose One and What to Check

A good consultant saves a family months of confusion; a bad one costs lakhs and can leave a student with a degree India will not register. This page lists the red flags and the checks you can do yourself before paying anyone, says what Edumapple does and does not do, and shows how a family in Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Thrissur or anywhere in Kerala can be counselled from our single office in Kakkanad, Kochi.

In short: choose an MBBS abroad consultant by what you can verify, not by what is promised. Check the registration number on the Ministry of Corporate Affairs portal, ask for the university's own fee document, pay tuition only to the university, and walk away from anyone who claims "NMC approved", an assured seat or a seat without NEET. Edumapple Global Education LLP (LLPIN ACD-8134) has one office, in Kakkanad, Kochi. It counsels families from Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Thrissur and other districts by phone, WhatsApp and video in Malayalam, and by visit when the family wants one.

What a study abroad consultant for MBBS does, and what it cannot do

When a Kerala family searches for study abroad consultants in Kochi, Kerala or their own city, they usually need four things: an honest check of whether the student is eligible, a shortlist of universities that fit the NMC rules, help with the application and visa, and someone to call when something goes wrong. A consultant can do all four. A consultant cannot admit the student, cannot change the NMC rules and cannot make the student pass FMGE. Those three are decided by the university, by the National Medical Commission and by the student's own work.

That matters because the usual harm in this business comes from promises on exactly those three points. The rules a Russian degree must meet are fixed in the NMC's Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations 2021: at least 54 months of study in English, a 12-month internship at the same university, a licence to practise in Russia, and the whole course at one institution. A student who joins a course that fails one of these cannot register in India, whatever the consultant said. The NMC rules explained page lists them in full.

Red flags before you pay anyone

  • The claim "NMC approved". The NMC does not publish or endorse a list of foreign medical universities. Its own information page says students must confirm the fee structure and course details with the institution directly. A consultant who shows an "approved" list is selling a label, not a fact.
  • An assured seat, or a seat without NEET. NEET qualification is mandatory for any Indian citizen starting MBBS abroad. No consultant can promise a seat before the university issues an invitation.
  • Tuition paid to the consultant. Tuition should go from the family to the university's account, against a receipt from the university. Money that passes through a consultant's account cannot be traced by you.
  • A "package" with no breakdown. Ask for tuition, hostel, insurance, visa, flights and the consultant's own fee as separate lines, and for the university's price list next to them.
  • Vague on the language of teaching. The course must be taught in English throughout. Some Russian universities teach English for the first years and Russian after. Ask which language each year is taught in, and where the NMC's English-medium rule is met.
  • Silence about FMGE. Over 2022 to 2025 about one in four Russian graduates passed FMGE. A consultant who never mentions it is not preparing you for the real exam. See the FMGE pass rate by university.
  • Pressure to "block" the seat today. Admissions run for months. A deadline of "today, or the seat goes" is a sales tactic.
  • Taking the original passport or certificates. The Ministry of External Affairs' older advisory for students going to Russia tells students to keep their own passport and not hand it to agents.
  • No written agreement. Services, fees, due dates and the refund terms should be on paper, in a language you read.

Seven checks you can do in one afternoon

  1. Look up the business. A limited liability partnership has an LLPIN and a company has a CIN; both can be searched on the Ministry of Corporate Affairs portal. Edumapple's is ACD-8134, registered with the Registrar of Companies, Ernakulam, on 7 November 2023. Registration shows that the business exists, not that it is good, but a business that will not give a number has told you something.
  2. Visit or video-call the office. Ask for the address and a Google Maps pin, and check that the office is where it is said to be.
  3. Read the university's own price document. Fees are published on the university's website or in a price order. Compare the consultant's figure with it, and note the year.
  4. Write to the university. Use the international office email from the university's website, not one the consultant gives you, and ask whether the course is taught fully in English for Indian groups.
  5. Check the FMGE results. The NBEMS publishes results by country and institute every year. Look at your shortlisted universities there.
  6. Ask where tuition is paid. The answer should be the university's account, with a university receipt.
  7. Ask what is not included and what happens if admission is refused or the visa is not granted. Get the refund terms in writing.

What Edumapple does, and what it does not

Edumapple Global Education LLP runs this site. It is registered in Kerala and has one office, in Collective Coworks (CoCo), Grand Central by Group Mukkadan, Edachira, Kakkanad, Kochi 682030. We do not have branch offices in other cities.

For a student we do these things: check eligibility against NEET and NMC rules before anything is paid; shortlist universities that teach the whole six-year course in English; prepare the application, the invitation letter request and the student visa file; arrange document attestation, travel from Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram or Kozhikode, and the first days in the city; and stay in touch with the family during the course.

We do not promise admission, because the university decides. We do not promise an FMGE or NExT result. We do not collect tuition; tuition goes from the student to the university's account. And we do not recommend a university that teaches part of the course in Russian, even if it is cheaper. These are the same points you can use as a test for any consultant. More is on the about us page and in the editorial policy that governs how we check the facts on this site.

Counselling from your own city

You do not need to travel to Kochi to start. A first counselling in Malayalam or English can be done by phone, WhatsApp or video call, with both parents on the line. Send the NEET score card, Class 10 and 12 marks and your budget for six years, and a counsellor goes through eligibility and a shortlist. A visit to Kakkanad is useful when you want to see the paperwork and meet the team, and it is worth it once the shortlist is ready. Please call before you come so that a counsellor is free to meet you. The table below shows how far each city is from the office and where the nearest NORKA Roots attestation centre and airport are.

Why so many Kerala families look abroad

In 2025, 1,21,516 students from Kerala appeared for NEET-UG and 73,328 qualified. Kerala has about 5,400 MBBS seats on the NMC's 2025-26 count, so there are roughly 14 qualified candidates for every seat in the state. A government seat costs about ₹23,150 a year in tuition, a self-financing general seat about ₹8.1 to ₹9.3 lakh a year, and an NRI seat ₹22.7 lakh a year. NTA publishes these numbers by state; we have not found official counts by district, so be careful with any page that quotes one. The list of medical colleges in Kerala shows seats, fees and last ranks, and the Kerala versus Russia fee comparison shows what is left to decide.

Questions to put to any consultant, including us

  • What is the registration number of the business, and where is the office?
  • Which universities do you recommend for my NEET score, and in which language is each year taught?
  • What is the university's official fee for the first year and for the full course, and where is it published?
  • Do you charge a service fee, how much, when is it due and what does it cover?
  • Where do I pay tuition, and will I get the university's receipt?
  • What are the FMGE results of this university in the last three years?
  • What happens to my money if the invitation or the visa is refused?

If you want to compare our answers with another consultant's, ask us the same questions by phone or WhatsApp. For the full picture of the route and costs, the guide to MBBS abroad for Kerala students covers the countries and the steps.

MBBS Abroad Consultants in Kerala: Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose an MBBS abroad consultant in Kerala?

Verify the business on the Ministry of Corporate Affairs portal, read the university's own fee document, and pay tuition only to the university against its receipt. Avoid anyone who claims "NMC approved", promises a seat or a seat without NEET, or asks for your original passport. Get fees and refund terms in writing.

Does Edumapple have offices in Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode or Thrissur?

No. Edumapple Global Education LLP has one office, in Kakkanad, Kochi. Families in other districts are counselled by phone, WhatsApp and video call in Malayalam, and can visit the Kakkanad office when they wish.

Does the NMC publish a list of approved foreign medical universities?

No. The NMC states that it does not endorse any list of foreign medical institutions. A Russian degree is usable in India only if the course meets the NMC's Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations 2021 and the graduate passes FMGE. Check each university against those rules.

Should I pay tuition to a consultant?

No. Tuition should be paid to the university's own account, and the university should give you a receipt. At Edumapple, tuition goes directly from the student to the university.

Does the first counselling session cost anything?

Edumapple's contact page states that counselling is offered at no charge, in English and Malayalam. If a counsellor mentions any later service fee, here or anywhere else, ask for it in writing with the date it falls due and what it covers.

Can I be counselled without travelling to Kochi?

Yes. Phone, WhatsApp and video counselling in Malayalam are available for families anywhere in Kerala. Most of the application, the invitation request and the visa file can be handled online. Attestation of certificates is done at the NORKA Roots centre of your choice.
