Counselling for a Malabar family: what we do, and from where
Many Calicut families expect to find a consultant on the same road as the school. For MBBS abroad the useful work is done on documents, and that can be done by phone and video. Send the NEET score card, Class 10 and 12 marks and the six-year budget on WhatsApp to +91 62385 03277 or through the form on this page, and a counsellor calls in Malayalam. We then check eligibility against the NEET and NMC rules before any payment, shortlist universities that teach the whole six-year course in English, and show you each university's own price list. After that we prepare the application, the invitation letter request and the student visa file, and arrange travel from Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram or Kozhikode and the first days in the university city. Tuition goes from the student directly to the university, with the university's receipt.

A day trip is possible with an early fast train out and an evening train back, but timetables decide it, so many Malabar families do the first conversation on video and make one visit when the shortlist is ready. Certificates: the NORKA Roots centre on Link Road
A Russian university needs your Class 10 and Class 12 certificates apostilled, and for Kerala certificates the first step is NORKA Roots. The Kozhikode regional office is on the 1st Floor, Vikas Building, Link Road, Kozhikode; phone 0495 2304882, 0495 2304885 and 8281004911; email [email protected]. NORKA's own page was last updated in June 2021, so confirm the phone and hours before you go. Register on norkaroots.org first; attestation is usually done Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2:30 pm, with payment by card or UPI. Karipur to Russia: the usual route
Calicut International Airport at Karipur (CCJ) is in Malappuram district, close to Calicut. It has no direct flight to Russia, and no Kerala airport does. Students fly through a Gulf hub (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah or Doha) to Moscow, a one-stop trip of about 13 to 17 hours, or fly to Delhi and take Aeroflot's nonstop to Moscow, about 6 hours 10 minutes to 6 hours 30 minutes. Fares are highest in July to September, so book after the university confirms the arrival date. The Russian consulate nearest Kerala is in Chennai. The Malabar districts have a government college in each of Kozhikode, Malappuram, Kannur and Wayanad, and private colleges in Kozhikode, Malappuram and Wayanad. In the 2026 state counselling:

Rank 205 was the last open state-merit rank at Government Medical College, Kozhikode in round 2, and rank 3,648 at MES in Perinthalmanna, so the college closest to home is also the hardest to get. Malabar and KMCT, both in Kozhikode district, closed at about 5,500 and 5,900. The complete list is on medical colleges in Kerala.
If a parent works in the Gulf
Many Malabar families have a member working abroad. Self-financing colleges in Kerala keep up to 15% of seats for NRI candidates, at ₹22,74,006 a year in tuition in the 2025-26 order for twelve colleges, which is about ₹1.02 crore over 4.5 years, and CEE Kerala publishes the documents an NRI applicant must upload and the sponsor rules. Compare that figure with the Kerala versus Russia fee comparison before you decide; a Russian state university outside Moscow is usually a fraction of it in tuition, though the exam at the end (FMGE) is a risk the NRI seat does not carry.
NTA publishes NEET results by state, not by district, so we cannot give you a Calicut-only figure. In 2025, 1,21,516 candidates from Kerala appeared and 73,328 qualified; Kerala has about 5,400 MBBS seats on the NMC's count, roughly 14 qualified candidates for each seat.
