MBBS in Russia Admission 2027: Calendar from NEET to Arrival
If you want to start MBBS in Russia in autumn 2027, the work starts now, a full year before. The NEET-UG 2027 dates are not yet announced, so this page gives the calendar as it is known: the dates that are official, the dates that are usual and marked as such, and the month in which each document, payment and visa step falls.
In short: for the 2027 intake, NEET-UG 2027 has not been notified yet and is usually held in early May, with the result in June. Russian universities take foreign applicants from about June to August and start the first year on 1 September or later; English groups often start between September and November. The visa needs an invitation from the university, which takes weeks, so documents, apostille and applications must be ready by July. A qualifying NEET result from 2025 or 2026 is valid for 2027 admission, because it stays valid for three years.
MBBS in Russia admission 2027: what is known and what is not
Three dates decide the year: the NEET-UG exam, the start of the Russian academic year, and the date the student visa is issued. Everything else is built around them. Here is what is official as of 15 October 2026.
- NEET-UG 2027: not yet notified by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The notice and the information bulletin appear on neet.nta.nic.in. Coaching sites expect an exam in early May 2027 and registration in February or March 2027, but those are estimates, so do not plan flights around them.
- The 2026 cycle was disturbed. NEET-UG 2026 was held on 3 May 2026 and cancelled by the NTA after paper-leak complaints. The re-examination took place on 21 June 2026, the result came on 16 July 2026, and about 11.21 lakh candidates qualified. MCC counselling then ran from August, with Round 1 registration on 5–12 August and Round 1 results on 17 August. So a normal year ends in June; 2026 ended a month later. The lesson for 2027 is to keep a margin of a month in the plan.
- Russian universities: open document submission in the summer. Sechenov University's official page for 2026/27 says that document submission for specialist programmes, which include General Medicine, began on 20 June 2026, with programme pages listing 1 July to 20 August for documents, admission tests until 21 August, the competition list on 24 August and the enrolment order on 28 August. Other universities have their own dates. Ask each one in writing.
- Russian Government quota: the application for the 2027/28 academic year opens on the education-in-russia.com portal in September 2026 and closes in January or February 2027. This is a separate, much narrower route; see the scholarship guide.

Who can apply for the 2027 intake
The conditions have not changed in years and apply to a student who will be at least 17 on 31 December 2027:
- A qualifying NEET-UG result. For the 2026 exam the qualifying marks were 213 out of 720 for general and EWS, 194 for general PwBD and 177 for SC, ST and OBC; in 2025 they were 144, 127 and 113. The result is valid for three years from its declaration, so the results of 2025 and 2026 can be used in 2027.
- Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English and 50% in PCB (40% for reserved categories).
- A university that meets the NMC rules: 54 months in English plus a 12-month internship at the same university, and a licence to practise in Russia. See the NMC rules.

The slow item is the apostille. State authentication and the MEA step take days to weeks, and the NORKA centres in Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kozhikode have appointment queues in June and July, when thousands of Plus Two students ask for the same service. Book on the day the certificate is available.
Visa and travel timing
A Russian student visa is issued on an invitation from the university. The university requests it from the Russian migration authorities after you are admitted, and passport details must match exactly. Guides put the processing of an invitation at about 20 working days and up to 45, and the visa decision at roughly one to four weeks, depending on the season, but neither the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs nor the visa centres publish a fixed number for students. The practical rule is to have the invitation by the end of July and to apply for the visa in the first half of August, so that you can fly in the last week of August or first half of September. The nearest Russian consular office to Kerala is the Consulate General in Chennai, and visa centres operate in New Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai and Kolkata.
There is no direct flight from Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram or Kozhikode to Russia. Students fly through Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Doha or Delhi to Moscow. Fares are highest from July to September: flydubai fares from Kochi to Moscow were around ₹65,000 one way in a September 2026 snapshot, so book once the visa is in hand, or book a refundable fare early. Kerala counselling and the Russia decision
Most Kerala families keep both options open until the state and all-India counselling are done. In 2026 the MCC Round 1 results came on 17 August and the Kerala (CEE) allotment followed its own schedule. A seat in Kerala is far cheaper than any route abroad, so the rule is simple: apply to Russian universities in parallel in June and July, hold the admission letters, and pay the first fee only when you have decided. What to do if you miss the main window
Some universities accept foreign students into English groups later, in September, October or even November, as long as places remain. Late joining is possible, but you miss the early lectures and the Russian-language start, and some universities do not accept late students at all. If you miss the summer window, ask the university in writing which date is its last, and do not trust a verbal promise.
The money calendar
- June–July: NORKA and apostille charges, translations, university application, if any, and medical tests.

When does MBBS admission in Russia start for 2027?
Universities usually take documents from June to August after the NEET result, and the first year starts on 1 September or later. For 2026/27 Sechenov University opened document submission on 20 June 2026. The 2027 dates will be published by each university in spring, so ask them in writing.
What is the NEET-UG 2027 exam date?
The NTA has not announced it as of 15 October 2026. NEET is usually held in early May with the result in June, but in 2026 the exam was re-held on 21 June and the result came on 16 July. Follow neet.nta.nic.in for the official notice.
Can I use my NEET 2025 or 2026 score for admission in 2027?
Yes, if it is a qualifying score. A NEET-UG result is valid for three years from the date of the result for study abroad, so the 2025 and 2026 results can be used for the 2027 intake. You still need Class 12 with 50% in PCB (40% for reserved categories).
