MOSC Medical College, Kolenchery: MBBS Fees, Cut Off and Admission 2026
Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church Medical College in Kolenchery, Ernakulam, is one of the most searched private medical colleges in Kerala. For a student, three numbers matter: 100 MBBS seats for 2026-27, a last state-merit rank of 2,661 in the first CEE allotment of 2026 and 2,777 in the second, and a fee that is not in the 2025 government fee order. Here is what each means, and what a family who misses the rank pays for the same degree in Russia.
In short: MOSC Medical College has 100 MBBS seats for 2026-27. In 2026 the last state-merit seat went to KEAM rank 2,661 in round 1 and 2,777 in round 2, so a general-category student needed a rank inside roughly the top 2,800. The college is not among the 12 in the 2025 fee order; listings quote ₹8,56,840 a year for a general seat and ₹22,49,006 for an NRI seat, which you should confirm with CEE Kerala or the college. At that rate the 54 months of study cost about ₹38.6 lakh in tuition. A Russian state university costs ₹16–32 lakh in tuition for six years.

MOSC Kolenchery cut off: the last rank in 2026
MOSC is one of the Thrissur–Ernakulam group of church-run colleges that fill early. In the 2026 CEE allotments the last general state-merit (SM) seat at MOSC went to rank 2,661 in round 1 and 2,777 in round 2. Its neighbours in the same band were Jubilee Mission in Thrissur (1,753 and 2,050), Amala (2,147 and 2,310), Pushpagiri in Thiruvalla (2,608 and 2,908) and Believers Church (2,998 and 3,127). In other words, if your rank is below about 3,000, MOSC is in reach in a normal year; beyond about 3,500 it is not, and the colleges still open to you are further from Kochi and close at ranks between 5,000 and 10,800.
These are KEAM state ranks prepared from NEET-UG, not NEET marks and not all-India ranks. The last rank also moves from year to year: seats were added in several colleges for 2026-27, and later rounds (round 3 and the stray-vacancy round) can open seats again. Treat 2,800 as a guide, not a promise.
| College | District | Seats 2026-27 | Last SM rank, round 1 | Round 2 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jubilee Mission Medical College | Thrissur | 150 | 1,753 | 2,050 |
| Amala Institute of Medical Sciences | Thrissur | 100 | 2,147 | 2,310 |
| Pushpagiri Institute of Medical Sciences | Pathanamthitta | 100 | 2,608 | 2,908 |
| MOSC Medical College, Kolenchery | Ernakulam | 100 | 2,661 | 2,777 |
| Believers Church Medical College | Pathanamthitta | 100 | 2,998 | 3,127 |
MOSC Medical College fees for MBBS
Fees in Kerala's self-financing colleges are fixed by the Fee Regulatory Committee, not by the college alone. The government order of 18 October 2025 lists 12 colleges, from ₹8,10,175 to ₹9,31,118 a year for a general seat and ₹22,74,006 for an NRI seat. MOSC is not one of the 12. Admission listings that cite CEE give ₹8,56,840 a year for a general seat and ₹22,49,006 for an NRI seat at MOSC; we could not open the order behind those figures, so ask the college or CEE for the notified fee before you register options.
From 2026 a further rule applies. On 17 July 2026 the Government of Kerala ordered every medical college to charge MBBS fees only for the 54 months of study, not for the internship year, and asked the Fee Regulatory Committee to refix the fees. If the quoted rate holds, the tuition for 54 months is about ₹38.6 lakh for a general seat and about ₹1.01 crore for an NRI seat. Hostel, mess, special fees, books and uniforms come on top; listings put hostel alone at ₹50,000–70,000 a year, again a figure to check.
Why choose a Russian university over MOSC
This is the comparison most families ask us for, point by point, with the figures from the official orders.
No rank race
MOSC took ranks only up to 2,777 in 2026. A Russian state university admits on the NEET-UG qualifying mark and 50% in Class 12 physics, chemistry and biology (40% for reserved categories). No state rank list, no waiting for rounds.
Lower total tuition
Six years of tuition at a Russian state university, against about ₹38.6 lakh for a MOSC general seat over 54 months. The difference usually covers hostel and flights for the whole course.
Price fixed before you fly
The fee for foreign students is set in the university's price order and written into your contract year by year. In Kerala the Fee Regulatory Committee refixes fees, and hostel and special fees come on top.
Transparent payment
Fees go to the university's bank account against its invoice. There is no capitation, no management-seat payment and no booking amount to a middleman.
No lost year
Many Russian universities accept Indian students into October and November. A student who misses the last KEAM round can still start medicine in the same academic year.
Choose by results
You pick from 54 English-medium universities on our list and see each one's FMGE results; the best pass more than one candidate in three. In Kerala, at a late rank, you take the seat that is left.
What Russia does not give you: home food, a Kerala hospital during the course, and a licence without the exam. Every graduate of a foreign university must pass FMGE (later NExT) and do a year of internship in India. Choose a university with strong FMGE results and plan the exam from the first year.

How to get admission to MOSC Kolenchery
You do not apply to MOSC directly for a state seat. Every state-merit seat is allotted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) Kerala from the KEAM medical rank list, which is drawn up from your NEET-UG rank. The sequence in 2026 was: NEET-UG, the KEAM application in January (with the medical course ticked), uploading the NEET score in August, the rank list on 14 August, and then option registration, where you list colleges in order. MOSC must be in your options at the right place; if it is allotted and you do not pay and join in time, you lose the seat and your later options.
Part of the seats in Kerala's self-financing colleges are not state merit: up to 15% NRI, up to 15% open to candidates from any state, and in minority institutions a community share set in the seat-matrix order. If you belong to the Malankara Orthodox community, read the community-quota conditions in the 2026-27 seat matrix for MOSC; the last rank for a community seat can be very different from the state-merit figure above.
If your rank does not reach MOSC: MBBS in Russia compared
A family looking at MOSC is usually ready to spend ₹35–40 lakh and wants a college close to home. If the rank falls a few thousand short, the Kerala choice narrows to colleges that close at ranks of 5,000–10,800, at the same ₹8–9 lakh a year. That is the point where Russia becomes a real comparison rather than a fallback: the tuition at a state university is a third to two-thirds of the Kerala self-financing fee, the degree takes six years instead of five and a half, and the graduate has to clear FMGE.
| Option | Tuition per year | Tuition for the course | What you also need |
|---|---|---|---|
| MOSC Kolenchery, general seat (if ₹8,56,840 holds) | ₹8.6 lakh | about ₹38.6 lakh (54 months) | A KEAM rank inside about 2,800 |
| Chuvash State University (Russia) | ₹2.8 lakh | about ₹16.6 lakh (6 years) | Hostel, food, flights, FMGE after return |
| Mordovia State University (Russia) | ₹4.0 lakh | about ₹24 lakh (6 years) | Same; FMGE 32.0% in 2022–25 |
| Kazan State Medical University (Russia) | ₹5.4 lakh | about ₹32 lakh (6 years) | Same; FMGE 30.5% in 2022–25 |
Three rules decide whether a Russian degree is worth anything back home. The NMC Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations 2021 require at least 54 months of study in English, a 12-month internship at the same university, and a licence to practise in Russia; then the graduate must pass FMGE (to be replaced by NExT) and do 12 more months of internship in India. Across all Russian universities about one candidate in four passed FMGE in 2022–2025, but the spread is wide: Orenburg 38.6%, Privolzhsky 36.9%, Smolensk 35.4%, Mordovia 32.0%, while several others are under 15%. The full list is on our FMGE pass-rate page.
The honest summary for a MOSC-level student: if you get the seat, take it; a Kerala MBBS needs no FMGE and you train in Malayalam-speaking wards. If you miss by a wide margin, compare the colleges still open to you with a Russian university in the top third of the FMGE table. Our Kerala vs Russia comparison and KEAM allotment guide go through the decision step by step, and the lowest-fee list shows what fits a tighter budget.

MOSC Medical College Kolenchery: questions from parents
What was the MOSC Kolenchery MBBS cut off in 2026?
In the 2026 CEE Kerala allotments the last state-merit seat at MOSC went to KEAM rank 2,661 in round 1 and 2,777 in round 2. That is the KEAM state rank, not NEET marks. Community, NRI and all-state seats have their own last ranks.
What is the MBBS fee at MOSC Medical College?
MOSC is not among the 12 colleges in the 2025 government fee order. Admission listings quote ₹8,56,840 a year for a general seat and ₹22,49,006 for an NRI seat; confirm the notified fee with CEE Kerala or the college before you register options.
How many MBBS seats does MOSC have?
100 seats in 2026-27, under the Government of Kerala seat-matrix order. The seats are split between state merit, NRI, all-state and community quotas as set in that order.
Can I get MOSC with a KEAM rank of 4,000?
Not in the first two rounds of 2026, which closed at 2,661 and 2,777. Later rounds sometimes open a few seats, but plan for colleges that closed nearer your rank, and price a Russian option as well.
Is MBBS in Russia cheaper than MOSC?
In tuition, yes: a Russian state university costs about ₹16–32 lakh for six years against about ₹38.6 lakh at MOSC's quoted general fee. A Russian degree adds FMGE and an Indian internship, so compare FMGE results before you choose.
