Russian University of Medicine: MBBS Fees, Hostel, NEET Cut-Off and Admission for Indian Students
Russian University of Medicine (Rosunimed), the former Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry, is a public university in Moscow. Unlike most universities in our list, it does not publish an English-medium MBBS track or a foreigner fee that we could verify, so this page tells you what is known, what is not, and the exact questions to put to the university before you pay anything.
In short: Russian University of Medicine (Rosunimed) is a public medical university in Moscow, established in 1922 and formerly known as Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry. We could not verify a tuition fee for Indian students, so we state none. No official page we found describes an English-medium General Medicine track, and the search results describe the programme as Russian-language, so treat it as Russian-medium unless the university confirms English in writing. Its FMGE record is almost empty: two candidates in 2020 under the old name, none passed.

Russian University of Medicine is a federal state budgetary institution of higher education under the Russian Ministry of Health, so it is a public university. Wikipedia gives its establishment as 2 April 1922 and describes it as formerly known as Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry (MSUMD, also written MGMSU, named after A.I. Yevdokimov). We found no official source for the date when the name changed (our best information is 2023), so check the name on the university's own pages. This matters for searches: the old English site, en.msmsu.ru, is marked "under construction" in an archived 2022 snapshot, and we found no current English portal.
The address is Delegatskaya street 20, building 1, Moscow 127473, in the centre-north of the city. The university's website is rosunimed.ru. We could not open the official pages directly from our side, and the site was blocked in the web archive, so everything below comes from archived and secondary pages. For that reason this page is more cautious than our other university pages. A name like "Russian University of Medicine" is also used by agents for different programmes, so confirm any agent claim against the university's own documents.

Russian University of Medicine fees for Indian students
We have no verified tuition figure for foreign students at the Russian University of Medicine. An official fee order for 2024-25 exists on the old university domain (msmsu.ru), but the file was not in the web archive and we could not read it. We did not locate a 2025-26 order. One aggregator website shows a "from" price for General Medicine taught in Russian, but that is not a foreigner price list and says nothing about an English track, so we do not use it. We also found no agent that markets this university for English-medium MBBS in two searches, which is itself a signal: universities that actively recruit Indian students tend to be easy to find.
Russian University of Medicine fee structure 2026-27: what is and is not published
Because no price is verified, we do not show a rouble or rupee amount, a six-year total or a comparison with Kerala fees. Do not accept a verbal quote. The correct way to get a fee is:
- Ask the international or admissions office for the official price order (in Russian, "prikaz ob utverzhdenii stoimosti platnykh obrazovatelnykh uslug") for the year of your intake, for foreign citizens, for the programme and language you want.
- Ask whether the price is for the first year only or for each year of the course, and whether the contract allows annual increases.
- Ask for the language of instruction written on the contract, not only in an email.
- Pay only to the university's own bank account named in the contract, never to an individual.
Our form sends the request for you and returns the answer. In the meantime, you can see the rouble prices of other universities on the MBBS in Russia fees page, and how they compare with Kerala's self-financing seats at about ₹8.1 lakh a year in MBBS fees in Kerala vs Russia.
| Cost item | What we know for Russian University of Medicine |
|---|---|
| Tuition for Indian students | Not published in a form we could verify; ask for the price order |
| Language of instruction | No official English-medium page found; search results describe Russian-language study |
| Hostel | Official page exists; no price on the archived version we read |
| Medical insurance | Compulsory for foreign students; usually arranged through the university |
| Food and transport | Moscow is the most expensive city in our list |
| Flights | Kerala to Moscow via a Gulf hub or Delhi; no onward flight needed |
Living cost in Moscow
Beyond tuition and hostel, a student's monthly budget in Moscow is made of food, a mobile plan and internet, a metro pass, study material and winter clothing in the first year. Moscow is generally more expensive to live in than the other cities where Indian students study; its population is about 13 million. We have no verified monthly figure, so ask senior Indian students for their real spend. If you find Moscow beyond the family budget, a university in a smaller city usually costs much less in total.
Hostel and hostel fees at Russian University of Medicine
The university's dormitory page, which we read in an archive copy of 29 December 2023, says foreign students are housed on equal terms with Russian students in an 11-floor, corridor-type dormitory. The page gives no price, and the room type and number of beds per room are not stated. Ask the international office in writing: which dormitory is allocated to foreign first-year students, how many share a room, the monthly fee in roubles, the deposit, and whether a place is kept for all years of study. A "corridor-type" dormitory means rooms along a shared corridor with shared kitchens and bathrooms on each floor, which is normal in Russia.
Families often ask about the girls hostel at Russian University of Medicine and its fees. Russian dormitories are usually separated by rooms or floors with a pass system at the entrance. Ask how female students are placed, who is on duty at the entrance and how far the dormitory is from the teaching buildings and hospital bases. In Moscow the daily commute by metro can take 30–60 minutes.
NEET cut-off and eligibility for Russian University of Medicine
We found no NEET cut-off of the university's own above the national qualifying score. What you need is the NEET-UG qualifying score for your category, because without it an Indian graduate cannot sit FMGE:
- NEET-UG: qualified, result valid for three years. In NEET-UG 2026 the qualifying score was 213 out of 720 for general and EWS, 194 for general PwBD and 177 for SC, ST and OBC (the 3 May exam was cancelled after a paper leak and re-held on 21 June 2026; the result came on 16 July 2026). In 2025 it was 144, 127 and 113.
- Class 12: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English, with at least 50% in PCB (40% for reserved categories).
- Age: 17 by 31 December of the admission year.
The university has a preparatory faculty that teaches Russian to foreigners. For a Russian-medium programme a preparatory year is normal, and it adds a year of tuition and living cost, so count seven years, not six, if you choose that route. Ask whether an entrance test or interview is held and in which language. There is no published acceptance rate. See the full eligibility and documents list.
Check your eligibility for Russian University of Medicine
Send your NEET score and Class 12 marks; we ask the university whether an English-medium group exists for your intake.
Admission process at Russian University of Medicine
Ask first, apply second
Before you send documents, ask the admissions office in writing whether an English-medium General Medicine group exists for your intake year, for how many years, and at what fee.
Admission letter and contract
If the answer is yes, send scans of your passport, Class 10 and 12 mark sheets and NEET score card. The university issues an admission letter. Read the contract for the fee, the language of instruction and the internship.
Invitation and visa
The university applies for your study invitation from the Russian migration authorities. With it you apply for the student visa; the nearest Russian consulate to Kerala is in Chennai.
Travel to Moscow
Fly to Moscow through a Gulf hub or Delhi; Aeroflot flies Delhi–Moscow nonstop about daily. The university completes your migration registration after arrival.
English-medium groups at Russian universities usually start between September and November. The general admission process page explains documents, apostille through NORKA Roots and the visa in detail.
Russian University of Medicine ranking and recognition
We did not find a verified ranking position for the Russian University of Medicine, so we do not quote one. A ranking says little about what matters most for an Indian student. Three things matter more:
- NMC rules. The degree is valid in India only if the course meets the NMC Foreign Medical Graduate Licentiate Regulations 2021: at least 54 months of study in English, a 12-month internship at the same university, and eligibility for a licence to practise in Russia. The NMC keeps no list of approved universities, so ask the university for written confirmation of each point. See NMC rules.
- World Directory of Medical Schools. We could not check the WDOMS listing, and the university changed its name, so look for both the new and the old name; an Indian graduate needs a degree from a recognised medical school.
- FMGE results, below, which show how its Indian graduates actually do.
The language point is the decisive one here. The NMC requires at least 54 months of study in English. If the university teaches General Medicine only in Russian, a course taken there does not meet that requirement, however well known the Moscow address may be. Search results describe this programme as Russian-language, and we found no official English-medium page. Do not rely on an agent's statement that it is "taught in English"; get the statement from the university, in writing, for each year of the course.
FMGE passing percentage of Russian University of Medicine
NBEMS publishes FMGE results for every foreign university. The only record we have for this university is in 2020, under the old name "Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry": two candidates appeared and none passed (0.0%), against a Russian average of 16.0% that year. For 2021–2025 we found no candidates under the old or new name.
| Session | Appeared | Passed | Pass rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2020 | 2 | 0 | 0.0% |
Two candidates in one year cannot show how good or bad a university is, and the university is not ranked in our ranking by FMGE results, which needs at least 300 candidates in 2022–2025. The honest reading is that Indian graduates of this university are rare, which fits a Russian-medium course. That means there is no evidence at all about how its Indian graduates do, and a family would be the first to find out. The older "MCI passing ratio" is the same exam. Compare other universities on the FMGE pass rate page.
Safety in Moscow for Indian students
Moscow is the capital and not a border region. It is not among the regions for which the Indian Embassy in Moscow issued a precaution advisory in August 2024 (Bryansk, Belgorod, Kursk), and the Embassy is in the city. We found no published report of an incident involving Indian students of this university. Moscow is a big city: keep your passport copy with you, use official taxi apps, avoid isolated areas at night and stay away from political gatherings. Moscow airports can have temporary restrictions, so keep a buffer when you book connections.
- Register with the Indian Embassy in Moscow after arrival and save its emergency numbers.
- Check the current advisory at mea.gov.in before you travel; it can change.
- Ask the university about security at the dormitory and the entrance control.
- Never accept a job or "contract" offer that involves the Russian military.

Life in Moscow for Kerala students
Moscow is the largest city in Europe by population, with about 13 million people (2021 census) and the busiest metro system in Europe according to Wikipedia. A student gets the widest choice of food, shops, hospitals and libraries, and the Indian Embassy is in the city. The price is the cost of living, which is the highest in Russia.
The winters are cold but milder than in the Urals or Siberia: the January mean is −6.2 °C and the July mean 19.6 °C by Wikipedia's climate tables. A good winter jacket, boots and thermal wear are essential from the first year.

Kerala students and Indian food
The university has not published a count of Indian students, and we found no verified number for Kerala students; given the Russian-language programme, expect few. Moscow has Indian restaurants and groceries, and students also cook in dormitory kitchens. We do not have a verified list of shops, so ask seniors. See our guide to Indian food in Russia.
Where Russian University of Medicine is: how to get there from Kerala
The university is in Moscow itself, so there is no distance to Moscow to cover: the main address, Delegatskaya street 20, is in the central-northern part of the city. Moscow has three airports, Sheremetyevo (SVO), Domodedovo (DME) and Vnukovo (VKO), all operating according to Wikipedia. The time zone is Moscow time, 2.5 hours behind India.
From Kerala there is no direct flight to Russia. The usual route is Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram or Kozhikode to Moscow through Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Doha or Delhi. Aeroflot flies Delhi–Moscow nonstop about daily. Because you land in the same city, there is no second domestic flight. Read more on the universities page and the map of all cities.
Scholarships, syllabus and courses
We found no scholarship at the Russian University of Medicine that cuts tuition for Indian students as a rule. The Russian government offers a limited number of state-funded places to foreign citizens each year through its quota programme, applied for on the official education-in-russia.com portal; competition is high and places in medicine are few. Indian families should plan to pay the full fee.
The General Medicine syllabus follows the Russian federal standard for specialty 31.05.01. A typical six-year plan looks like this; ask the university for its own curriculum before you sign:
| Years | Main subjects |
|---|---|
| 1–2 | Anatomy, histology, physiology, biochemistry, biology, Latin, Russian language |
| 3 | Pathology, pharmacology, microbiology, propaedeutics of internal diseases, general surgery |
| 4–5 | Internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, pediatrics, neurology, infectious diseases, psychiatry |
| 6 | Clinical rotations in hospitals and the state final examinations |
The first years cover the basic sciences, then clinical subjects follow, with hospital practice in the senior years. In a Russian-medium course all teaching is in Russian, which is why a preparatory year comes first. We use only General Medicine as the course for a new MBBS student.
Russian University of Medicine compared with similar universities
Families shortlisting Moscow usually compare the capital's universities with each other. The table uses first-year tuition and the combined FMGE pass rate for 2022–2025 from the NBEMS reports.
| University | City | Tuition per year | FMGE 2022–2025 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Russian University of Medicine | Moscow | Not published for foreigners | No candidates, not ranked |
| Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University | Moscow | ₹14.1 lakh | Not ranked (fewer than 300 candidates) |
| Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University | Moscow | ₹11.3 lakh (2025-26, English) | 30.4% (35 of 115), not ranked |
| RUDN University | Moscow | ₹11.4 lakh | Not ranked (fewer than 300 candidates) |
The other three Moscow universities publish a fee, an English-medium route and some FMGE history, in different degrees. Russian University of Medicine does not, so it cannot be compared on numbers. If you want a Moscow address with English medium, Pirogov is the one with a stated English fee and recent FMGE results. See the full ranking by FMGE results.
After graduation: FMGE, internship and registration in Kerala
The university awards the Russian specialist diploma in General Medicine after six years. To practise in India, a graduate then needs to:
- Pass FMGE, held by NBEMS three times a year since 2026 (the NMC plans to replace it with NExT, with no date yet).
- Complete a 12-month supervised internship in India, as the NMC requires for foreign graduates.
- Register with the Travancore-Cochin Medical Council to practise in Kerala.
The first step is only open if the course met the NMC rules, including 54 months of study in English. After registration, graduates can take NEET-PG for postgraduate seats in India like any other doctor. Practising in Russia is also possible but needs Russian accreditation and fluent Russian. Our after MBBS in Russia guide explains each step.
